A CLASSIC film car event which took place in Bagillt was a roaring success.

The fun-filled family fundraiser was organised in aid of the Make a Wish Foundation, a charity which grants the wishes of children and youngsters aged between three and 17 living with life threatening illnesses.

The event yesterday saw hundreds of visitors flock to the Petrolheads Cafe, on Dee Bank Industrial Estate, where there was face painting and a raffle on offer, plus relica classic cars from films including The Fast and the Furious, KITT from Knight Rider, and Transformers on display.

Iconic motors on display to delighted visitors included an Aston Martin made famous by James Bond, a DeLorean from Back to the Future, and Lightning McQueen from Cars, voiced in the films by Owen Wilson.

Sarah Mills, from Stoke, organised the event. She said it was a bigger success than she orginally thought.

She said: “It has gone really well. I think just from the raffle we’ve raised £230 and there’s more to come. The kids loved having Lightning McQueen there but all the cars were popular, especially the American ones.

“Because I didn’t think it would be so big when I spoke to Make A Wish originally, I set a target of raising £100. “It has gone so well we think we will do it again next year.

“We’ve been to an event here before and it is a nice area.”

Kevin Wilding, who owns the cafe, added: “It was brilliant, the turnout was fantastic and we had a superb day. We’re chuffed to bits.”
