PHEW, what a scorcher.

People across North East Wales and Chester basked in glorious sunshine yet again yesterday and the weather forecasters predict the outlook is favourable as we head into the weekend.

Today looks like being the pick of the pack with super summer weather expected to continue, with temperatures reaching a high of 26oC.

Moving into Saturday there will be more cloud about, but temperatures will still reach 24oC in the region.

There is the possibility of scattered showers on Sunday and it will be cooler as well at 19oC.

Families have been flocking to enjoy the beautiful conditions at Loggerheads Country Park, near Mold.

A spokesman for Denbighshire Council said: “The great weather has been excellent news for us and we have been really busy due to people wanting to take advantage of the sunshine.

“People are coming out to walk and explore, but are also taking advantage of the programme of events planned at Loggerheads and other countryside sites over the summer. It’s a good time to get out into the countryside.”

The heatwave is causing a summer fashion boom at Eagles Meadow in Wrexham.

Torrey Winter, manager at Debenhams, said sales of summer wear had gone through the roof.

She said: “It’s been very busy across the board with women’s, men’s and children’s wear all going exceptionally well.

Nicola Harrington, an assistant manager at the Boots store on Eagles Meadow, said the sales of sunblock and after-sun creams had also rocketed.

She said: “It’s so important to ensure people, particularly children, use sun block and keep hydrated in hot weather.”

Lorna Cooper, assistant manager of Frankie and Benny’s restaurant, said the summer sun had been a welcome start to the school holidays.

She said: “We are selling far more salads than normal while pitta breads and wraps, particularly at lunch time, are proving very popular.

“It’s lovely seeing people dressed in summer clothes and having a good time.”
