A POLICE investigation has been launched following a late night “nasty assault” in a pub car park.
The attack, which left the victim with facial injuries, happened outside the Custom House pub in Connah’s Quay.
The following afternoon, investigating officers taped off the crime scene.
Landlord Tony Deburgh, who has been at the pub for just two weeks, said he witnessed the drama unfold.
“The lad was assaulted and I phoned the police,” he said. “It happened outside in the car park.
“A guy pulled up in his car and he was arguing with another girl.
“Next minute, another lad seriously injured him. I think he has a broken jaw.
“I spoke to him afterwards. He didn’t want an ambulance.”
Police are appealing for witnesses following the attack, which they say resulted in the victim needing hospital treatment for facial injuries.
Inspector Ceri Hawe of North Wales Police said: “We are appealing to anyone who witnessed this nasty assault in the car park shortly after 11pm on Wednesday, or who may have information relating to the incident, to contact police.”
