A MOTHER was given an “unforgettable experience” after a music superstar put on her Welsh hat at a concert.

Born in the USA rocker Bruce Springsteen grabbed the sparkly Welsh dragon hat belonging to Alison Williams, of Coedpoeth, from the crowd at a gig in New Orleans.

He then belted out a rendition of Tenth Avenue Freeze Out while wearing the patriotic headwear.

Alison, 52, was on a 10-day tour of the US to watch three concerts by the artist also known as the ‘The Boss’ and his E-Street Band in Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, and finally at the New Orleans Jazz Festival.

Accompanied by children Catlin, 22, and Andrew, 18, Alison also managed to get a shot at the festival with her very-own Wrexham FC beach towel which she took around with her on the trip.

“It’s actually the second time Bruce has worn my hat,” she said.

“He wore it at a gig in Hyde Park last summer. If only he recognised me as well as he does the hat.

“It was an unforgettable experience and combining my two loves of Wrexham FC and Bruce Springsteen in one day was fantastic.”

l ALISON’S photo is the latest far-flung entry into the Leader’s beach towel snap competition.

We are asking readers to send in their holiday pictures capturing their Wrexham FC towels across the UK and the world.

They could feature the towel by a pool abroad, being used after a sporting challenge, being unfurled in a city centre or simply shown off in a
far-flung destination.

We will print some of the best shots and our favourite will win next season’s shirt.

Entries will be accepted until the Reds’ first game of the new season in August.

Anyone looking to submit a photo for the Leader competition should include themselves and the towel in the shot and enclose information about when and where the photo was taken, as well as their full name, age, address and contact details.

Entries can be emailed to
