FOUR motorbikes have been stolen in a week in a spate of what has been called ‘opportunistic’ thefts.

Forensic tests are being carried out after police recovered one of the bikes, but motorcyclists are being advised to be careful about where they park and make sure leave their vehicles properly secured.

Police inspector Paul Wycherley said: “In the last seven days we have had four motorbikes stolen in the Wrexham area.

“One has been recovered and forensic tests are being carried out.

“All of the bikes that have been stolen were parked either on the street or in front of homes.

“I would advise people to park at the back of their house and secure their bike to something with a good quality lock.

“These are opportunist thefts, they were not particularly sophisticated.”

The inspector said North Wales Police PCSOs have been going door to door with leaflets informing people how they can keep their motorbikes safe.

Last Monday a Giantco motorcycle was taken from Connor Crescent but was later recovered in Pont Wen.

And the following night, a Suzuki 600 motorcycle was stolen from Wynnstay Avenue sometime between 7.30pm and 10.30pm.

On the same night, a scooter was taken from Fairmount Road between 5pm and 1am.

An appeal for information has been issued, with people asked to call North Wales Police on 101, quoting reference RC14099358 about the Giantco, R100500 regarding the Suzuki or R100562 regarding the scooter theft.
