A MOTHER feared for her life as an “aggressive dog” came running towards her and knocked her off her feet.

Karen Turner described the horrifying ordeal of watching the Staffie-type breed launch itself at her and then attack her border collie dog Shelby – “throwing her in the air and ragging her round like a doll”.

The distraught dog walker told of the terrifying attack, which happened yards from her home on the field near Viking Way in Connah’s Quay.

She said the owner of the Staffie dog “had to break his dog’s leg” to get it to release its grip from Shelby.

“The dog knocked me off my feet – it sent me flying,” said Mrs Turner, a mother-of-four.

“It wasn’t interested in me – it just attacked Shelby.

“I think the dog owner had to break the dog’s leg – I heard the crunch and that’s when it stopped.

“I’m assuming it broke its leg – but I didn’t hang around to find out.”

Mrs Turner, 38, added: “I just thought the dog was going to kill one of us – we didn’t stand a chance.

“I’m just glad I didn’t have the children with me.”

She said as the dog was running towards her the other dog owner was yelling at her telling her to pick her pet up – saying “the dog is aggressive”.

“I thought Shelby was going to die,” she said.

“She is like one of my children – I felt helpless.”

Mrs Turner said she has walked Shelby on that field every day for the past few years, but following the incident said she will no longer use the area.

And she is angry that the

dog owner had his pet off the

lead – adding that dogs this aggressive should be muzzled at all times.

She reported the attack to police and took her pet to a vet after it suffered bite marks to its neck and other wounds.

A spokesman from North Wales Police confirmed they received a call reporting that a member of the public was walking her dog when another person’s dog attacked her dog while she was holding it.
