A MAN has admitted masturbating in the Maelor Hospital’s accident and emergency department.

David James Hughes, 21, pleaded guilty to a charge of outraging public decency at the hospital unit on May 21.

At Wrexham Magistrates Court, he also admitted a charge of using behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress on the same date, also at the Maelor.

Justin Espie, prosecuting, said that as well as the solo sex act in the emergency room, Hughes, of Tryweryn Place, Wrexham, urinated in a treatment cubicle.

Hughes, who receives Jobseeker’s Allowance, had been due to appear at the court last Wednesday to face the two charges, but failed to attend – a further offence, which he also admitted.

Euros Jones, defending, said Hughes had forgotten about the first court date.

For his failure to attend, Hughes was fined £25 with a £20 surcharge on Friday.

The remainder of the charges against him were adjourned to Friday, July 11, for a pre-sentence to be prepared.

Hughes was granted unconditional bail.
