SCHOOL pupils have been given an inspirational life lesson by an unlikely source.

Children at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School in Flint were told Yes you can! by Kevin the puppet, operated by Marc Griffiths, of Britain’s Got Talent fame.

Marc and Kevin managed to make it through to the quarter-final stage of the TV talent contest in 2012.

Despite not quite securing enough support to make it through to a live semi-final, the act was popular with millions of people who watched the primetime ITV show.

Marc was at the school yesterday to inspire year six pupils with the help of his popular puppet sidekicks, including Kevin, with his distinctive bright orange hair.

“I am just known as Kevin’s friend,” Marc joked.

His visit is the latest in a long line of stops in Flintshire, including previous shows at Broughton and Mostyn Bryn Panant.

“Visiting all those children is a lot of work, but to see them laughing and remembering the important messages years later makes it all worthwhile,” he added.

Marc, who is based in Sheffield, also had the help from his popular character Munch the Bear on hand as he helped dozens of seven to 11-year-olds learn about how they can realise their own potential.

He said: “The message is really about how you should never say ‘I can’t’ and how to come up with the answers yourself.

“I was working with key stage two pupils then spoke to the year six children as they go through the transition to big school.

“I love doing this, because children at nine-years-old are the most impressionable age group.

“I’ve tried to give them affirmation, admiration and adventure.”
