A 27-YEAR-OLD Flintshire man set up an internet website to manage prostitutes.

Robert Anthon Pettener yesterday admitted six charges of causing or inciting prostitution for gain.

Mold Crown Court was told that between November 2012 and January last year he incited women to become prostitutes.

Pettener, who had already admitted drug offences, was bailed pending sentence but he was told by Judge Niclas Parry to prepare himself for custody. In his basis of plea he described himself as a conduit where male customers meet females, two of whom were already providing escort services, he said.

It was not a sophisticated operation. It operated for a short period and he claimed his financial gain was about £700.

He denied there was any coercion or threats to get the females involved in the first place.

Simon Rogers, prosecuting, said while that was accepted, he said the evidence showed the defendant was more than willing to resort to threatening language.

Mr Rogers also said the use of the word conduit was minimising it too much.

Mark Davies, defending, agreed with the judge his client was a facilitator, or a manager, via a website.

At an earlier hearing Pettener admitted that in January last year he was in possession of cannabis with intent to supply, and supplying the drug.

In that basis of plea, he admitted supplying a small amount to friends who were already users.

It was not sophisticated. It went on for a short period of time, and it was accepted he was selling commercially to friends.

Both matters will be sentenced together.

Pettener, of Coleshill Street, Holywell but bailed to an address in Brindley Avenue in Winsford, Cheshire, was rebailed.

Judge Parry told him: “You understand you must prepare yourself for custody. I would be misleading you if I was to tell you otherwise.”
