PRIMARY school pupils took to the stage to show off their star skills in a talent contest.

Children at Ysgol Penrhyn held a Penrhyn’s Got Talent event which showcased budding singers, comedians and dancers.

The performers were watched by an audience which included Wrexham mayor Cllr T Alan Edwards; mayoress Glenys Edwards and Burnley FC player David Jones, a former pupil of headteacher Martin Mathias when he was teaching in Gresford.

Seven performers from the infants section took part in the contest in the morning, followed by seven of their fellow pupils from the juniors in the afternoon.

Performers included duets Daniella Derby and Darcey Jones; young comedian Leevi Edwards and street dancer Lewis Jones.

This was the second year running the school has held a talent event, with this year’s contest organised by the school council.

Mr Matthias, headteacher at Ysgol Penrhyn, said: “It’s gone really well.”

Mr Matthias added: “This year’s event was handed to the school council. They took it upon themselves to invite the guests.”

He added: “They’ve done a really good job and they did it all themselves.”
