Third person charged over historic abuse claims

A 74-year-old man from the Wrexham area has become the third person to be charged under Operation Pallial.

Peter Steen has been charged with seven offences as part of an investigation into recent allegations of historical sexual abuse surrounding care homes in North Wales.

He has been charged with three offences of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and four charges of child cruelty.

The offences are alleged to have taken place against four boys and one girl, who were aged between 13 and 16 years.

They are alleged to have taken place between 1978 and 1986.

He has been bailed to appear at Mold Magistrates on 12th June 2014.

Operation Pallial is an investigation being conducted by the National Crime Agency (NCA).
