A “SHOCKING” street brawl involving more than 20 people erupted on a town street.

Petrified residents said they saw teenagers and adults fighting in the street before the door to a house was allegedly smashed up with a baseball bat.

A heavy police presence was needed to restore order on Sunday night, according to people living on Borough Grove, Flint.

One person has been arrested in connection to the incident and North Wales Police said it has increased patrols in the area.

Gwen Parry, who lives on the street, said: “It was quite shocking.

“Myself and some neighbours all felt the need to call the police as there were quite a few teenagers gathered here.

“I don’t know what the fight was about and I don’t know any of the kids that were there, but just before the police arrived, one lad suddenly came from around a corner with a baseball bat and started bashing in a door to a flat.

“I didn’t watch the entire fight as I was a little intimidated by the amount of kids out there.”

Mrs Parry said not all the youngsters at the scene were fighting, with many just watching the melee.

She said there were about 25 people, male and female, involved in the fracas.

Flint Castle councillor Ian Roberts said: “I’m very disappointed to hear such incidents are going on and I would ask anyone who has any information to work with the police in Flint to ensure that these people are brought to justice as soon as possible.

“I think it is quite rare for incidents like this to happen, but occasionally, as in all communities, incidents do happen and I think when they do happen we need to respond to them to ensure that they don’t happen again.

“We want to keep incidents like this rare, we want it to be a well ordered, safe community where people can enjoy their lives and their properties without fear.”

A spokesman for North Wales Police said: “We had a report of a disturbance involving a group of youths.

“No-one was injured during the incident but we have increased patrols in the area.”

One person has been arrested and bailed in relation to the incident, pending further inquiries.
