TRAVELLERS who are camped at a Chester Park and Ride site have been given until this morning to leave.

A total of 19 caravans have set up camp at the site on Wrexham Road Park and Ride which has reduced the number of car parking spaces available to commuters into Chester and partially blocked one of the roads on the site.

The travellers moved onto the site on Sunday and Cheshire West and Chester Council have now ordered the travellers to leave by 10am today.

Council spokesman Laura Johnson said: “There is an encampment of 19 caravans and associated vehicles on the Wrexham Road Park and Ride.

“The Council has visited with the police and carried out all the necessary welfare assessments.

“A section 77 notice was served this morning on the encampment, giving the families until 10am today
to leave.”

The Western Rural Neighbourhood Policing Team confirmed that the police had been called to the site on Sunday when the travellers first arrived but there had been no reports of any problems since they moved onto the site.
