BURGLARS made off with thousands of pounds worth of mobile phones and laptop computers after smashing through a wall in an overnight raid.

he Flint branch of We-Do-PC stores on Holywell Road was targeted by the burglars who stole the mobile phones and laptops valued at thousands of pounds after breaking in over Monday night.

The raid has left business expansion plans in jeopardy and company bosses are now considering moving out of Flint.

A section of the property’s exterior wall  was smashed through, allowing the burglars access to the store.

A container next to the store containing old equipment was also been broken into, but nothing was taken.

Staff turning up for a normal day’s work were met with scenes of choas.

We-Do-PC owner Phil John estimated the burglars had taken between £1,000-£2,000 worth of mobile phones and a further £2,000 worth of computers.

He said the impact of the burglary was “devastating”.

“We wanted to expand and create new jobs but that’s now going to have to be put on hold,” he said.

“We’re going to have to move from this spot, we can’t be worrying every night about whether the stock is going to be taken.

“Mobiles and laptops are highly valued by criminals. The impact on the business is devastating.”

Mr John also has branches in Holywell and Mold and said this was not the first time his Flint store had been raided by burglars.

“When we first started here in 2012, people got in through the roof three days after we opened.”

“We spent more than £17,000 on security.

“It’s become almost impossible to trade here now and we’ll be looking to move from Flint.

“The losses are considerable and we’re not a big company. We’re devastated.”
Paul Yates, who helps to run the Flint store, discovered the building had been broken in to when he arrived for work on Tuesday morning.

“We saw the container had been damaged and that the wall had been smashed.

“This is the worst of the attacks we’ve had. There’s decisions to be made about our future, I’m really angry.”

Mr John’s daughter, Sara-Mai, 17, who also works at the shop, said: “It’s a family business so we’re pretty annoyed about this.

“The burglars were pretty quick about it.”

A police spokesman said: “We received a call at 9.43am on Tuesday with reports of a break in at a business that sells mobile phones on Holywell Road, Flint.

“The incident is believed to have taken place overnight.

“Inquiries are ongoing and anyone who may have seen anybody acting suspiciously at that time should contact police on 101.”
