A FORMER Boy Scout who was victim of a suspected hit-and-run nine years ago has returned to the group to help them celebrate their 30th birthday.
The 6th Wrexham Scout Group, founded in 1984, have been visited by former member Greg Vickers, who was horrifically injured in what remains a mystery incident.
Mr Vickers was a 23-year-old RAF serviceman when he was found with severe head injuries by the side of the road in a Wrexham cul-de-sac in 2005.
He suffered a fractured skull and brain injury and his family feared he might never wake up.
But despite what happened to him still remaining a mystery, he has made a remarkable recovery.
And he went along to visit the Beaver Scouts and unveil a special plaque he made as part of the Erlas Garden Project.
Group organiser Colleen Graham said: “It was really nice of Greg to make us this plaque.
“We’ve placed it as the centrepiece of a garden the Beaver Scouts have helped to create.
“We’d like to thank Erlas for their help with this.”
Later in the year the group is having a fun day at Cox Wood campsite, between Wrexham and Chester, a barbecue and a dinner and disco for adults.
