A WOMAN has spoken of her joy at shedding eight stone in just over a year.
Alli Hunt, 55, of Connah’s Quay, has totally transformed her life, going from a size 24 in the autumn of 2012 to a trim size 10 now.
Alli, a nuclear skills advisor with the Energy Island programme on Anglesey, said she is delighted at the success of her dieting, which was done with Slimming World in Shotton.
“People I have known for a long time but who haven’t seen me for a while say I look like a different person.
“It has been a complete transformation,” said Alli.
As well as being much slimmer Alli is also far fitter than she was in 2012.
She goes to the gym at Deeside Leisure Centre regularly and also runs.
Her latest athletic endeavour was the 10-kilometre Great Wrexham Road Runner, which she completed in a time of one hour six minutes.
“When I started losing weight with Slimming World at the Salvation Army centre in Shotton it was October 2012 and I was 18-and-a-half stone,” she said.
“Initially my goal was to get down to 14 stone, which I didn’t really expect to achieve.
“But I was successful and I just kept on going, aiming to lose one or two stone at a time.
“I am now at 10 stone 7lbs. That is my target weight which I reached at Christmas time 2013 and my goal now is to maintain that weight.
“Most of my life I have been a size 22 or 24. Now I am a size 10. I feel fantastic. I can go into any shop and buy clothes off the rail.”
Talking about her success in running Alli said at first she felt like keeling over after just 30 seconds.
“I worked at things. First of all I increased it to two minutes running, then five and so on.
“My son Martin Griffiths is in the army and he helped me focus on my motivation.”
Alli has also given a big thank you to her husband Len Whitney, 63, for all his support.
“Len is also with Slimming World and has lost two-and-a-half stone, from 14-and-a-half stone down to 12. He is my rock.
“Len is a diabetic, and as a result of success with Slimming World, his tablets have been reduced, so we are both feeling great.”
