MORE than 300 runners strode out in style yesterday in a 10km charity fundraiser.
The Great Wrexham Road Runner, organised by Nightingale House Hospice, proved to be an outstanding success.
Fundraising and events manager Margaret Hollings said people came to take part from throughout Wales, the North West of England and even further afield.
“We estimate it will raise more than £7,000, which is absolutely brilliant,” said Margaret.
“We had athletics club members and individual runners.
“There were 316 people taking part – among those living furthest away was a runner from Plymouth.
“The feedback we had was very positive. People were saying they enjoyed the course and how friendly the marshalls were.”
The run started and finished at the Queensway stadium, going out towards the Wrexham Industrial Estate area.
The route involved road closures being put in place, with Margaret thanking residents for their patience on the day.
“We would like to say a very big thank you to everyone who helped to make the event so enjoyable and successful,” she added.
“We are going to be placing photographs on our Facebook page, which people can log on to take a look at.”
