THE victim of an assault in Wrexham was taken to hospital by ambulance after he suffered serious head injuries.
Police have issued an appeal for witnesses to the attack which happened on the A534 near Waterways Garden Centre, Holt Road, shortly after 4pm yesterday.
A spokesman for North Wales Police said: “An ambulance was called and the man was taken to hospital with serious head injuries. Enquiries are ongoing and police are asking anyone with any information regarding this incident to contact them on 101.”
A spokesman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said two men were taken to hospital following the assault.
“Two emergency ambulances attended. A man with serious injuries and a man with minor injuries were taken to Wrexham Maelor Hospital.”
Rush-hour traffic coming from Wrexham Industrial Estate was diverted.
Traffic reports said the A534 was closed with queues in both directions between the industrial estate and Holt.
Cllr Michael Morris, who represents Holt ward on Wrexham Council, said last night: “It is a busy stretch of road and I would ask anyone who may have seen something related to the incident to get in contact with the police.”
