TV presenter Jonathan Ross will top the bill when one of the country’s biggest sci-fi conventions returns to Wrexham.
The chat show star is among an impressive list of TV, film and entertainment stars set to descend on Glyndwr University for the Wales Comic Con 2014.
About 8,000 showed up for the comic book, fantasy and sci-fi fest last year.
With a bill including Smallville star Alison Mack, Kryton and friends from space comedy Red Dwarf, cast and crew from The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings movies and Torchwood star Eve Myles, organisers hope this year’s bash will be even bigger.
Thousands of tickets have already been sold for the event on Sunday, April 27, with many guests expected to come in comic book costume.
Founder Jaime Milner said: “It is absolutely manic right now for us. We’ve been lucky enough to get the opportunity to work with some great guests and hope this year’s event will be better than ever.
“Jonathan Ross is a major coup for us and this will be Allison Mack’s first UK convention appearance.
“There will be the usual opportunities for autographs, question and answer sessions, a pop-up comic store and wrestling.”
The event gives sci-fi fans the chance to meet with like-minded individuals and encounter their heroes from their favourite shows.
There will be more than 100 vendors selling merchandise such as clothing, souvenirs and comics.
Last year the event hosted more than 60 celebrity guests and sci-fi fans from all over the world flocked to attend.
With another bumper show expected Mr Milner said the town will again get a financial shot in the arm.
He said: “It has got even bigger again this year and will take over the whole of the Glyndwr campus.
“The amount of money it will bring to the town is huge.
“People are travelling over from the USA and Japan to attend and last year hotels in the area were all booked up.
“We’re looking forward to seeing all our fans again this year. As ever, we hope everyone has a fantastic time.
“The support and love we get from our fans, many of whom come to the show each year, is just amazing and we hope to continue to make the show a must-visit for many years to come.”
