A CHOIR made up entirely of members affected by cancer is gearing up for a concert.
Sing With Us Wrexham holds weekly sessions at Gresford Colliery Club, where members affected by cancer in some way come together with the choir.
They will perform in a concert with the Llangollen Male Voice Choir on April 12 at St Margaret’s Church, Chester Road, Wrexham at 7pm to raise funds for the Tenovus cancer charity.
North-East Wales area co-ordinator Izzy Rodrigues said she was “delighted” with the response the choir has had since it was launched last July.
“The Wrexham choir was the first Sing With Us choir to launch in North Wales and since it started we have gained nearly 50 regular members,” she said.
“Rehearsals are fun and energetic and there is always a great buzz among the members.
“The choirs act as an informal support group for anyone affected by cancer. They are a place where people can come and meet people in similar situations to themselves and also access information about the other services Tenovus provides.”
The concert in April will be the group’s second major appearance, having performed at the Millennium Centre in Cardiff for the 70th anniversary gala of Sing With Us choirs, held in December.
Tickets are £5, available via the Sing With Us Wrexham Facebook page. More information about the group can also be found on the page.
