A COMMUNITY pub has been left overwhelmed by the support of TV presenter Lorraine Kelly.
The Scottish favourite has donated clothes worn on GMTV for Saith Seren’s St David’s Day auction tomorrow.
The clothes are part of an auction of promises to raise money for Saith Seren’s St David’s Day appeal, helping the Welsh centre to secure its future.
Saith Seren chairman Marc Jones said: “It’s probably one of the most unusual donations we’ve had to the auction of promises on Saturday, but also the most welcome. I’d love to say Lorraine was a regular at the bar but she’s not. However, her support for our cause is very welcome.
“It came about through a friend of a friend who knows Lorraine. It is extremely random, but nothing surprises me at the Saith Seren.”
In a letter to the appeal, Mrs Kelly said she was ‘happy to help’ and wished them luck with their fundraising efforts.
Mr Jones said: “We’re also very fortunate a top professional photographer, Phil Rees, has donated £685 worth of wedding photography as a promise.
“Phil has been a long-term supporter of Saith Seren and I know from personal experience his service at special occasions is second to none.”
Mr Jones said there has already been a bid for £200 for the clothes.
Bids will be taken until the auction at 7.30pm on Saturday by calling or texting bids to 07747 792441.
There are other smaller promises affordable for all including hampers, inscribed Welsh slate, salsa lessons and a VW camper van for the weekend.
All items can be viewed on social networking website Facebook by searching ‘Saith Seren’ or at www.saithseren.org.uk.
Mr Jones added: “I’d urge people to come early to the auction to see what’s on
offer and also to enjoy a wonderful evening’s free entertainment with
Y Moniars for St David’s Day.”
