THERE was a colourful European flavour as Wrexham Library shared in celebrations for National Libraries Day.
The library held a Cafe Europa cake sale with a European twist on Saturday, raising money for Cancer Research UK.
There were live European folk tales, a children’s fancy dress competition and prize raffle as well as lashings of scrummy cakes, tea and coffee.
The library’s cake makers are known for their skill, with their most recent event having raised more than £530 for Comic Relief. But this one surpassed that total, managing to raise £576.
Debbie Salisbury, senior librarian at Wrexham Library, said: “The day went really well. It was lively and there was a real good buzz around the library with many people turning out in fancy dress as princesses and even a French onion seller.
“Lots of children took part in the story sessions and had a great time.”
