A MAN in his 20s is in hospital with “serious injuries” following a car smash on the A55 this morning.
The crash, which is thought to have involved two vehicles, saw both lanes of the eastbound-side of the dual carriageway closed for up to three hours.
Police say the carriageway was re-opened to motorists at midday.
Emergency services were called to the scene near Northop shortly after 9am.
Police helped block off an entrance to the A55 and help divert traffic. Two fire engines, a rapid response car, an emergency ambulance and another ambulance all descended on the scene.
An ambulance spokesman, said: “We were called at 9am to reports of a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the eastbound carriageway of the A55, near Northop.
“A paramedic in a rapid response car and an emergency ambulance, supported by an ambulance officer, were sent to the scene and a man in his 20s with serious injuries was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital.”
