A MAN had to be cut from his car after a collision last night.

Fire officers released the driver, 19, of a blue Citroen Saxo after a collision with a van on the A525 Ruthin Road in Llandegla just after 7.05pm.

The shunt caused the car to career into the side of the nearby Crown Hotel, smashing pub windows and knocking over a road sign in to a nearby hedge.

Nobody inside the pub was hurt.

Mel Braban, of the Crown Hotel, said: “The driver was lucky to get out alive. The car went onto its side, landed in to the side of the pub and was propped against it.

“There are a few windows in the pub broken but we were all fine.

Fire crews from Llangollen and Ruthin used cutting equipment to free the man from his car.

The driver was taken to Wrexham Maelor Hospital with non life -threatening injuries.
