A JOYRIDER crashed a car through a fence into primary school grounds before ploughing up the children’s playing field.
Police arrested a man in connection with the incident involving a stolen yellow Hyundai Amica.
Ysgol Glanrafon caretaker Ray North said he discovered the broken fence at 6.30am on Friday when he went to open up the Mold school.
Several metres of the wire and wood fencing surrounding the school field on Bryn Coch Lane were damaged.
There were also tyre tracks cutting through a large area of the school field where the car was dumped.
The car was winched from the field by a recovery vehicle while children were in lessons on Friday morning.
School headteacher Lisa Jones said staff and children were not in danger as the incident took place during the night, according to police.
A neighbour said she had heard nothing but described the incident as ‘very silly’.
“It’s just a relief no one was hurt,” she said.
North Wales Police said a call had been received from the school on Friday morning regarding a car on their field which appeared to have been abandoned.
A spokesman said the car was stolen and it had driven through the fence and around the school field, causing damage.
“Following enquiries, a male has been arrested in connection with the incident,” he added.
