A MAJOR search is currently underway after reports of a man in the River Dee.

Lifeboat crews, an RAF Sea King helicopter, ambulance crews and police were all involved in the operation, which centered around Hawarden Bridge close to Shotton.

Flint RNLI was launched at around 2.45pm yesterday after reports of the incident, and the Liverpool Coastguard reported an “ongoing incident” at around the same time.

A North Wales Police spokesman said officers and the police helicopter were sent to the scene at around 2.15pm after concerns were raised for a man's safety.
