A MOTORCYCLE group was taken over by festive cheer as more than 50 Santas got on their bikes for charity.
The Aqueduct Classics group, based in Froncysyllte, held its annual charity ride and encouraged members to come dressed as Santa.
They duly obliged and raised more than £800 for Clatterbridge cancer charity, which helps cancer patients across Merseyside and the North West.
Group member Steve Smith, from Speke, Merseyside, is in remission having been diagnosed with cancer and the group decided to raise funds for their friend and fellow rider.
In total 72 people rode at the event which took place at Nant Ucha woods, Trevor, near Llangollen, and all marshals and stewards also turned out in festive outfits.
In total £806.20 was raised by the group who afterwards went back to the Flexsys club where prizes were given out and food and refreshments were served.
Andrew Jeffares, 41, from Froncysyllte, event organiser, said it had been a ‘great day for all involved’.
“It’s the third year we’ve run the Santa event and it keeps being a very successful day and fun for everyone who takes part,” he said.
“When we heard Steve had cancer we were all shocked but thankfully he is in remission now and we thought it would be nice to do something to raise funds for cancer.
“Steve’s been riding with us for a fair few years and he’s a good friend to us all here.
“I’d like to thank everyone who came out on the day, all the riders, marshals, officials and spectators.”
