FOOD worth £350 has been bought for the Wrexham Foodbank, thanks to a successful fundraiser.
The event was held at the Wynnstay Hotel and organised by Julie O’Reilly of the hat shop, Fascinations, based at the Butchers’ Market.
Mrs O’Reilly said: “Our aim was to help fill empty ‘tums’ for a heartfelt Christmas.
“Everyone from the Butchers’ Market and Arcade donated money for the event. It was used towards buying raffle prizes.
“There was loads of entertainment. The event was opened by the Mayor and Mayoress of Wrexham, Cllr I David Bithell and Virginia Bithell.
“Pegasus Disco provided the music and there was a dancing competition for children with prizes to be won.
“Among other attractions we had Kazum the magician, a life-size Mickey Mouse, face painting, stalls and cakes were being sold.
“We would like to thank everyone who has been so generous and helped the outstanding success of the fundraiser.”
Mrs O’Reilly added: “This is a very important issue.
“If anyone else wants to give further donations for the foodbank they can bring it to me at the Butchers’ Market.”
