TWO men have been charged and three others arrested in connection with an alleged kidnap and assault of a man with sledgehammers.
Luke Huston, 24, of Allingdon Place, Handbridge, appeared at Chester Crown Court yesterday charged with kidnap, robbery, blackmail and a number of driving offences.
He spoke only to confirm his name and will appear for a plea and case management hearing on January 6.
Kieron Salkeld, 22, from Llwyn-Alun, Hope, Flintshire, appeared at West Cheshire Magistrates Court on Saturday charged with kidnap and grievous bodily harm. A third man, 25, remains on bail.
A 21-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man have also been arrested and bailed on suspicion of aiding an offender, a 21-year-old man.
Police are continuing to investigate reports that Mark Williams, 23, was kidnapped from a house in Huntington, on Friday, October 11, and driven to a secluded location where he was allegedly beaten with sledgehammers and robbed of two gold chains worth about £1,500.
The victim sustained serious cuts and bruises and a broken leg and was treated at the Countess of Chester Hospital but later discharged.
Huston and Salkeld will appear at Chester Crown Court on January 6.
