A MAN who is alleged to have bitten a schoolboy’s ear off has been remanded in custody.
Keiran John Roberts, 18, is charged with wounding the boy with intent to do him grievous bodily harm.
It follows an incident in the Milford Street area of Mold on Saturday when the prosecution say Roberts grabbed the boy and bit his ear off.
Justin Espie, prosecuting, produced photographs of the complainant’s injury which he described as severe.
Barrister Brian Cross, defending, applied for bail and said his client could live at an address in Church Street, Connah’s Quay.
Mr Cross suggested his client could be tagged to remain indoors at night and could be ordered to report to local police daily and he could be banned from the Mold area.
The bail application was rejected.
Magistrates remanded Roberts – who wept through much of the proceedings – in custody, and sent the case to Mold Crown Court for a preliminary hearing next week.
An order was made under The Children and Young Persons’ Act that the complainant should not be publicly identified.
