A MAN has appeared in court charged with causing death by careless driving – while over the drink drive limit.
Robert Bryn Williams, 48, made his first appearance at Flintshire Magistrates Court at Mold yesterday.
The case against Williams, of Alyn Terrace in Wrexham Road, Pontblyddyn, was sent to the crown court.
He is charged with causing the death of Kieran Arnold on June 17, by driving a Land Rover Discovery without due care and attention on the A541 at Pontblyddyn, at a time when he is alleged to be over the drink drive limit.
Prosecutor Matthew Ellis asked that the case be sent to the crown court.
Defending solicitor Victoria Evans asked that he be rebailed on the same conditions to appear at Mold Crown Court in two weeks time.
Magistrates bailed him on condition he does not contact prosecution witnesses and that he does not contact the deceased’s family by any means whatsoever, to include social media.
There was no indication of plea at this stage.
l Plumber Kieran Arnold, 21, of Cymau, on the Flintshire-Wrexham border, died in the crash between Pontblyddyn and Caergwrle.
His devastated family said at the time that he was a fantastic son and a loving big brother.
They said he was a keen bodybuilder who enjoyed all sorts of sports, including football and generally keeping fit.
He was well thought of as a plumber and was a hard working lad with drive and ambition, who aspired to start his own business.
They said in a statement that Kieran was a handsome young man who spent most of his time with his long-term girlfriend Lizzie.
