A 52-YEAR-OLD man charged with manslaughter after the death of another man from a drugs overdose will stand trial in February.
Anthony Williams, 40, died at his home in Connah’s Quay on February 1.
Scott Gavin Smallman, of Chestnut Court, Connah’s Quay, is charged with manslaughter.
Mr Justice Griffith-Williams, sitting at Mold Crown Court yesterday, said he would release the trial to Judge Merfyn Hughes QC, North Wales’ senior crown court judge.
He made various directions over the management of the case and fixed the trial for February 3 next year.
Karl Scholz, prosecuting, told the court the only issue at trial would be who injected the deceased with drugs.
Smallman was bailed on condition he does not approach prosecution witnesses; must live at Cwrt Cable in Connah’s Quay; is not to apply for a passport; and must report to Deeside police station three times a week.
