A 21-YEAR-OLD man who appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of two students in Wrexham has died after being taken to hospital.
Gary Douglas, from Llay, faced six charges, including the attempted murder of two Glyndwr University students Sean Doyle and Toni Lloyd Roberts in the early hours of October 2. The charges were in connection with incidents on Crispin Lane and Stantsy Road, near the university campus.
Douglas was also facing other charges.
He appeared at a hearing at Wrexham Magistrates Court on Friday but did not issue a plea to any of the charges and was remanded in custody.
A G4S spokesman said yesterday: “HMP Altcourse prisoner Gary Douglas died while at Fazakerley hospital, Liverpool, at approximately 8pm on October 12.
“As with all deaths in custody, the independent Prisons and Probation Ombudsman will conduct an investigation.”
