A 52-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of child cruelty and indecent assault as part of an investigation into child abuse at North Wales care homes.
The man from Mold was arrested by officers attached to Operation Pallial the offences, against four boys and one girl, which are alleged to have taken place between 1981 and 1988, when they were aged 13 or 14-years-old.
The man was arrested in the St. Helens area of Merseyside yesterday and has been taken to a police station in the vicinity where he will be interviewed.
Today’s arrest is the eleventh made to date in relation to Operation Pallial. One person has so far been charged with a large number of serious sexual offences.
Operation Pallial is an investigation led by Keith Bristow, director general of the National Crime Agency, into recent allegations of historical abuse in the care system in North Wales.
