A MAN wore a balaclava mask to commit a crime – but the face hole was so big he was identified.
At Wrexham Magistrates Court on Friday, 43-year-old Royston Matthias of Mold Road, Cefn Y Bedd, pleaded guilty to a charge of criminal damage to a property valued at under £5,000.
Justin Espie, prosecuting, said the incident happened on September 8 at a property neighbouring Matthias’ home.
Mr Espie said the victim came home to find a CCTV camera had been covered in a thick black substance.
Film footage was reviewed which showed a man carrying out the attack wearing a balaclava.
However due to the mask having a large hole in the facial area, it was possible to identify Matthias.
Euros Jones, defending, said Matthias was sorry for his actions.
He stressed he had no issue with the new occupants of the property where the camera was based.
Mr Jones told the court his client was under the care of various agencies and had no recollection of the incident.
The case was adjourned until October 30.
