THIEVES who broke into a garage stole a hands-free mobile phone kit and CCTV camera and slashed the inside of a car before its new owner had even driven it.
The driver’s seat belt on the blue Ford Mondeo was also cut in half during the raid at the garage on St David’s Lane, Mold.
David Hett of Bro Alun, Mold, said he only bought the blue Ford Mondeo last month.
He paid £800 for the car and was leaving it at the garage until January, when he will regain his driving licence after a ban.
The 48-year-old said his family had rented the garage on St David’s Lane for years and this was the first time it had ever been broken into.
Mr Hett said: “Friday afternoon was the last time I went there and it was fine.
“I went back on Sunday morning and it was slashed.
“They had forced the garage door open.
“The car was unlocked fortunately. If it hadn’t been, they [the thieves] would have probably smashed the windows to get in. They cut the seat belt, slashed the driver’s seat and the passenger seat, nicked my hands-free kit and a CCTV camera I had set up in the car.”
He added: “I’m gutted. They have just gone in with the intention of damage and theft.”
Police said the break-in happened at the garage some time between noon on Friday, September 20, and 11am on Sunday, September 22.
Officers are investigating the matter and urging anyone with information to come forward.
