THIEVES who stole from a children’s charity shop have been branded “low life” by the shop’s manager.

The Hope House Charity shop on Charles Road, Wrexham, set up a window display on Monday with a London theme to announce the charity’s London Bridges Night Walk.

But since then items from the display have been stolen on three separate occasions on Tuesday and yesterday.

The items stolen were a blue T-shirt with a London bus on the front, a Harrod’s shopping bag full of goods and a little red Mini car with a Union flag roof.

Shop manager Bev Lambert said: “These people have got no conscience at all. How can they stoop so low as to steal from a children’s hospice?

“And it’s not an isolated incident, we regularly find hangers empty where items have just been taken.

“With the hard work the volunteers do here and for someone to come along and do this defies belief.”

Mrs Lambert said she had laid tables out in front of the display to stop people stealing and that in order to have done so the thieves must have moved the tables or climbed over them to get to the items.

The display was aimed at promoting Hope House’s London Bridges Night Walk due to take place on Saturday, November 2.

It is a 10 mile walk along the banks of the River Thames crossing 11 bridges.

The event includes free optional return coach travel, light refreshments at the finish and free time in London for some Christmas Shopping or visiting the sights.

Sian Bailey, head of retail at the hospice, said: “The London windows are a great way for all the shops across the region to work together and the London themed window displays all look fantastic.

“Each shop is an Aladdin’s cave filled with real treasures, well worth a visit. Items offered for sale include ladies’, gents’ and children’s clothing, books, CDs, household items, linens, bric-a-brac and much more.

“All of our shops are run by a professional management team and a loyal group of volunteers. They pride themselves on delivering first-class customer service and merchandising our shops to a very high standard.”
