A DAY of festivities raised thousands of pounds for local sports clubs.
Hundreds of people made their way to a family fun day and beer festival at Northop Hall Cricket and Hockey Club.
The jamboree was staged to raise funds for the junior sections of both clubs to provide some much-needed new equipment.
Now organisers have revealed the day cleared the £1,000 mark, with money still coming in.
Cricket club treasurer Kate Smith helped organise the event and was pleased with how it went.
She said: “It was a very good day, very well attended and we got lucky with the weather.
“We’re looking to do a similar event but larger next year.
“We’re very pleased with how it all went and we’re hoping to go from strength to strength next year.”
There was plenty on show to amuse children like a bouncy castle, donkey rides, five-a-side hockey games and a classic car display on show.
For adults, the classic cars on display and the beer tent with a variety of ales, including Wrexham Lager, proved popular.
Club steward Simone Lusted added: “It went really well. We had 200 people here and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Luckily, a shower held off until the end.
“The beer tent was enjoyed by all and the bouncy castle was a hive of activity for all the children.
“The classic cars and sports games were a big success too.”
