A COMMUNITY event has been heralded as a great success.
More than 1,000 people attended the 13th Friends Community Fun Day at Ponciau Banks in Rhos on Saturday.
The event has become a popular part of village life in the Rhos and Ponciau communities, attracting a huge turnout each year.
Funds raised are used by Friends of Ponciau Banks to help look after the park and Cllr Paul Pemberton described the day as “a brilliant success”.
“It was absolutely first class,” said Cllr Pemberton, who is chairman of the Friends of Ponciau Banks.
“I estimated that there was about 1,000 people here at one point, which was fantastic.
“We were very lucky with the weather as there were concerns going into the weekend but I am made up that we decided to give it a try and that it paid off.
“It was a really good community event.
“It just keeps getting better and better.”
Attractions at the event included live music, donkey and children’s rides, reptiles to hold, an old fashioned sweet stall, face-painting and a fortune teller.
