A WREXHAM man has been sentenced after he was seen masturbating at the wheel of his car in a layby.
Ian Jones, from Heol Bathafarn, Coedpoeth, pleaded guilty to an act of outraging public decency.
Jones, 27, a labourer, was given a six-month conditional discharge yesterday at Wrexham Magistrates Court and ordered to pay costs totalling £100.
The court was told a woman who was walking to work on July 23 at 6.45am spotted Jones in the driver’s seat of a car, parked in the layby on Berse Road, Caego. He was masturbating with his iPad resting on the steering wheel in front of him.
She noted the registration number of the car and reported the incident to the police.
Jones was arrested that evening.
Justin Espie, prosecuting, said when officers asked Jones why he committed the offence, he replied: “I just felt like it”.
Cath Jagger, defending, said Jones was a man of good character who had learnt his lesson as a result of this incident which she described as a moment of sheer madness from her client.
Magistrates’ chairman Gwyneth Williams said this had been an embarrassing incident for Jones and added his sentence could have been more severe if it were not for his previous good record.
