THOUSANDS of people descended on Cilcain yesterday to celebrate this year’s show.
The annual event, described as being important to the character, charm and tradition of the village, attracted people from far and wide.
Families enjoyed various activities and entertainment throughout the day.
More than 200 people also took part in the Mountain Race – which saw participants battle it out up Moel Famau.
Susan Richards, whose husband, Peter, is the chairman of the Cilcain Show Committee, said: “It went extremely well.
“We had a huge turn out.
“Thousands of people came.
“We also had a huge turn out for the annual mountain race.
“It attracted 206 runners and that is a record number of people to take part.”
Entertainment included performances from the Gwernaffield Silver Band, there was a taekwondo demonstration, a fancy dress parade, children’s races and much more.
On the show’s website, organisers say: “Although Cilcain Show has gradually changed and grown down the years, the spirit of the old society remains.
“Traditional competitions bring together the community in joint endeavour, enjoyment and interest. The show attracts about 4,000 visitors and raises funds for the church and local community.”
