A DOTING father killed by a single punch while celebrating the birth of his son will be honoured for a fourth year by his family and friends.
Neil Edwards, 39, of Wrexham, suffered serious head injuries in the assault outside The Acton Park Hotel in September 2009.
He was taken initially to Wrexham Maelor Hospital and transferred to The Walton Centre in Liverpool where he later died. A charity golf day will be held again this year following the success of last year’s event where they raised £12,000.
This year an auction and a buffet will also take place to raise money in his memory.
The charities benefiting from this event will be Nightingale House and Walton Neurological Centre.
Dawn Edwards, Neil’s wife of 15 years, said: “Neil was a fun loving person who always wanted to help others; therefore I thought it was fitting to have a charity day in his memory.
“Nightingale House continue to provide our children and myself with excellent counselling and therapeutic services for which there is no charge and Walton did their utmost to save Neil whilst he was in their care.”
Prizes and auction items include a four-ball at Aberdovey Golf Club and signed Premiership football shirts.
The event will take place on Friday, August 30 at Clays Golf Club, Wrexham.
The evening buffet, band, raffle and auction with great prizes starts at 7pm.
Tickets are just £5 each, and can be paid via www.justgiving.com/Neil-Edwards1 or on the door.
