A GANG of up to eight armed men forced their way into a caravan demanding money from the occupants.
The men, who were wearing hoodies and dark clothing, surrounded the caravan on a development site near the old Ysbyty Lluesty hospital site on Old Chester Road, Holywell.
The building is due to be developed into apartments and security workers live on the site in caravans.
Police said one offender forced his way into a caravan and demanded money. When he was refused the suspects fled empty-handed.
One of the victims, who wished to remain anonymous, described the attackers as aged between 17 and 22.
He said they had weapons including knives and a sledgehammer and police had also discovered gardening cutters at the scene.
Neighbour John McDonnall who lives opposite the site, learned about the attack yesterday morning.
“We didn’t hear anything on Tuesday night,” he said.
Mr McDonnall said it was the only trouble he had been aware of since moving to the area a few months ago.
“It’s just not that sort of place,” he said. “It’s normally really quiet around here.”
DS Kevin Bowden of North Wales Police said it had been “a frightening incident for the two male victims”.
“Fortunately no one was hurt,” he added.
Detectives are appealing for anyone who saw any suspicious behaviour at the site or may have information to contact North Wales Police on 101 quoting reference RC13042223.
