A COMMUNITY is gearing up for its annual spring clean.
Mold Spring Clean runs from Friday, April 12 to Monday, April 15.
Now in its fifth year, the event has grown each year with more than 800 people taking part in 2012.
Cllr Geoff Collett, Mayor of Mold, said: “Mold Spring Clean is a marvellous community initiative and we hope even more volunteers come forward this year.
“Not only does the Mold community take responsibility for their town, but we all have fun doing so.”
Springy, the Mold Spring Clean mascot, is looking for helpers to join in the clean up.
He hopes local businesses, organisations and residents will join in the biggest town-wide community activity of the year.
Litter pickers, gloves, hi-viz jackets, bin bags and even a visit from Springy are all available to volunteers.
Volunteers to help stain benches, paint bollards and fences, etc are particularly welcome.
Springy will also be holding a competition for young people.
This year he would like help promoting Mold Spring Clean through a two to three minute recorded jingle style advertisement that can be used on social networking website Facebook, his website http://moldspringclean.wix.com/springy or even on TV or radio.
There are categories for primary school children and high school (and above).
The closing date for entries is noon on Friday, April 19 and the winners will be announced early the following week.
There are prizes for each category winner and the winning adverts will be used to promote Mold Spring Clean throughout the year.
Springy will be available at Mold market and around the town on Saturday, April 6 and 13 to meet friends and sign up those who want to help.
