A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder in Wrexham.
The man, who is in his twenties and from the Wrexham area, was arrested on Friday evening after the body of Glynis Eileen Solmaz was found at her home in Bryn Hafod, Caia Park, on Wednesday morning.
North Wales Police were granted a further 36 hours from 9am yesterday to question the man, who is being held at Wrexham police station.
Det chief insp Mark Hughes said: “Search warrants have been executed at various addresses in Wrexham and the investigation is progressing well with a number of lines of enquiry. I would again appeal for help from the community.”
An inquest has been opened into the death of Ms Solmaz, 65, and a post-mortem examination was performed at the Royal Liverpool Hospital by a Home Office pathologist but the cause has yet to be established.
North Wales East and Central coroner John Gittins said: “I have opened an inquest into the death of Glynis Eileen Solmaz, 65, of Bryn Hafod in Wrexham.
“Her death was reported to me as having occurred on February 20 at her home address and was verified at 10.18am.
“The cause of death remains to be established pending further tests and investigations.”
Police have increased patrols in Caia Park and renewed appeals have been made for members of the community to come forward with any information they might have about the death.
A North Wales Police mobile trailer has also been set up in the Red Dragon pub car park to reassure residents and provide a point of contact.
Floral tributes have been placed outside the home of Ms Solmaz, who lived alone and enjoyed walking her two Rottweiler dogs around the area.
She was last seen at a local chemist shop at about 11.10am last Monday.
Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen her anytime since last weekend, up to the discovery of her body before 10am on Wednesday.
