MYSTERY artwork with a cat theme has appeared in an area of Wrexham.
Drawings on paper and a collage have been created which depict cats in various bizarre guises across the Penybryn area of Wrexham.
The drawings are being stuck on to disused buildings.
Simon Hall, proprietor of the Bike and Second Hand Shed which is across the road from the artwork, said the collage was the first piece to go up on the streets.
It shows an umbrella in the shape of the back of a black cat’s head with white paw prints all the way across the width of the body. Beneath it is a handle with a Monty Python-esque hand, adorned with a wristwatch, reaching out. There are also what appear to be a number of blue raindrops falling on to the umbrella.
The second piece went up between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
It is about 2ft high and is based on a sand-coloured cat from ancient Egypt.
The animal is wearing a collar with a piece of gold jewellery hanging from its neck.
To the right there is a smaller, separate picture showing various symbols in the style of hieroglyphics.
Mr Hall said he had no idea who is behind the unusual artistic stunt or why it is taking place.
“I don’t know who could be doing this or what the reason for the drawings is. It started off as just one item at the beginning of the week, now there are two. Who knows what will happen next.
“Whoever has done this has obviously taken some time to get everything in place.
The artwork has been completed on paper then brought here and stuck on to the walls. I would say the whole thing is quite a mystery.”
