A THRIVING social enterprise cafe is looking for more volunteers.
The Hope Cafe is a venture in Holywell by Hope37 Youth Trust.
Based at 14 Tower Gardens, it opens five days a week, excluding Wednesdays and Sundays, from 10.15am.
The Hope Cafe is unique in Holywell as it is the only cafe that is run as a social enterprise.
It offers cakes, drinks and even bacon butties for just £1.
Its aim is to give young people aged 16-24 who are not in education, employment or training a chance to gain work experience and train them in some of the relevant skills needed for the world of work.
It allows them the opportunity to volunteer for as little as one day a week so they have something to put on their CV that employers will find relevant and useful.
The Hope Cafe is part of Hope37’s bigger project aim to enable young people to realise their potential and discover their worth.
The project was established in 2006 with the aim of reaching out to the young people of Holywell and its surrounding areas.
The Hope Cafe plays a vital role in this project not only by operating as a social enterprise but by providing the young people with a safe place to go off the streets.
It is open four days a week after school and has begun running a Tuesday night session, with specific activities to engage young people.
A Sunday afternoon workshop will start soon, giving them the chance to make and eat a meal together while engaging in discussion over a range of topics and issues.
The activities are only possible because of a dedicated team of volunteers that work for the charity alongside its director, Lisa Hayes.
But the team is small and is desperate for help, particularly as the charity is currently running at maximum capacity.
Its long-term aim is to buy a bigger, multi-functional facility that can offer greater provision for more young people.
To volunteer with the charity, doing youth work, cafe work or administration, call Lisa on 01352 719322 or email info@hope37.org.uk
Young people aged 16-24 who are not in employment, education or training who would like to gain work experience can also contact Lisa for more information.
