A DRINK driver has been banned from driving for 18 months.
Steven Wood, 32, of High Street, Coedpoeth, admitted two offences – driving while over the alcohol limit and possessing amphetamine at Wrexham Magistrates Court.
On January 12 Wood was driving after a night out and was involved in an accident in which his car left the road and ended up in a field at Talwrn Road, Coedpoeth.
Defending, Stephen Edwards, told the court Wood had been to a 30th birthday party in Brymbo and drank three to four pints of lager.
The weather conditions on the journey back had been difficult, with snow, mist and ice.
“He is very remorseful today. He accepts responsibility and is sorry,” said Mr Edwards.
Wood was found to have 63 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath; the legal limit is 35mg.
As well as the disqualification, Wood was ordered to pay a £250 fine for drink driving, £80 for possession of amphetamine, a £25 surcharge, and £85 costs. An order was made for the destruction of the amphetamine.
