A MAN has been killed in a suspected hit-and-run.
Steffan James Bowdley, 31, died a short time after a collision on the A525 near The Plough Inn in Llandegla at about 11pm on Wednesday.
Police have arrested a man in connection with the accident and say they are investigating the possibility that the driver deliberately failed to stop after the collision.
Investigating officer PS Gwyndaf Jones of the Roads Policing Unit said: “At 11.03pm North Wales Police and other emergency services responded to the scene of a road traffic incident, where they found a 31-year-old local man with critical injuries.
“North Wales Police are currently investigating the possibility the man’s injuries were the result of a hit-and-run road traffic collision.
“Sadly the man passed away a short time later.
“The man was found on the A525 Road at Llandegla approximately a quarter of a mile west of the Plough public house.
“Although another local man has been arrested in connection with the incident we are still appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or has any information concerning it, to contact the Roads Policing Unit.”
North Wales East and Central coroner, John Gittins, said he had been made aware of the death of a male from the Llandegla area.
He has ordered a Home Office pathologist to carry out a post-mortem examination, which is likely to take place today, and an inquest will be opened afterwards.
