VANDALS have waged a six-month campaign of destruction against a playgroup.
They are regularly wrecking play equipment owned by the Oaktree Playgroup at the Bistre Community Centre in Buckley.
Staff say they have destroyed a children’s playhouse, smashing its windows, ripping off the door, tearing out the wooden panels and damaging the roof by jumping on it.
The yobs even tore down and smashed up bird houses made by the children.
The children are now unable to play outside when it rains because the vandals destroyed the plastic shelter used to protect them from the rain. The gate to the play area has also been damaged.
Playgroup supervisor Sally Bumford said: “It doesn’t make me angry.
“It just makes me feel very sad that people could do this because the children are missing out as they can’t use the equipment.
“I want to try to make people aware of the consequences.
“It is going to cost £150 to replace the playhouse.
“It’s been happening near enough every weekend for the past six months.
“The police have visited to take down statements and to assess the damage but they haven’t been able to find out who’s responsible.”
Police confirmed they had received a complaint regarding damage to the playhouse.
